X-BOX fights pirates – Macitynet.it
Lower production costs but above all make hardware changes and the use of copied games more difficult for hackers. These are the objectives that Microsoft has with the announcement of some changes to its X-BOX.
The Redmond company, which confirms but does not specify what the changes are, under siege by several companies that, as happens with other consoles, offer mod chips capable of making the copied games readable but also of running software not authorized 'by Microsoft. The latter practice in some cases makes the X-BOX very similar to a real computer, freeing the hardware from its specific "machine" task for video games.
The changes, implemented a few weeks ago, have effectively rendered the chips currently on the market useless. According to some sites, none of the mod chips currently on the market would work on the already modified X-BOX.
For now, the changes to the original configurations would affect only the units produced in China, but soon they will also reach those assembled elsewhere.
Microsoft has also introduced a new Bios and eliminated the fan that cools the graphics card.
