With HotelTonight use your smartphone instead of the key

San Francisco – Not only workshops: Google I / O also the opportunity for some partners to show the news ready to be released or Beta (if not even Alfa) versions of services with longer times. the case of HotelTonight – app for last minute hotel bookings, at discounted prices – which here at the Moscone West Convention Center presents two novelties that will not arrive in the coming months.

A theExpress Checkin, to confirm all your data from the application with just two steps: in this way, on arrival, you can directly withdraw the key and continue towards the room other bureaucracy. The function is currently a pilot project and will be extended in the coming weeks to all Android and iOS users. All booking information will be automatically available via a Google Now card.

The second the Keyless Entry, which will allow you to use your NFC-equipped smartphone as a key to access the room. Once you have booked the night with the application, you will receive the credentials on the smartphone to unlock the lock directly placing the phone on the door of the assigned room. In combination with the Express Checkin, it will allow you to completely skip the registration process, the queue at the reception and go straight to your bed. The technology being developed in partnership with Brivo Labse several international hotel chains and could arrive already early next year.

Among the other innovations introduced by HotelTonight, there is the possibility of see Google StreetView before booking, to check the surroundings of the hotel and decide which one to choose. The possibility of, however, will not be available in Italy pay via Google Wallet, given that currently the service only accepts American credit cards.
