Windows that will be previewed
Just after announcing that an update for Windows 2000, code-named Whistler, will be released in the next year, Microsoft has released a preview of the new operating system to selected users. The update should be smaller in size and present updates especially in the industry of networks supporting the .Net project. at the moment there are not many details available, but one of these of particular importance for the Mac world since Windows 2001 (it will be called cos?) should cancel the compatibility with AppleTalk. At the moment some mixed Mac and Windows networks, especially the older ones, still use this communication protocol. The decision of Microsoft could therefore cause some repercussions also in the world of the Apple. We remember that Whistler, besides being an update for Windows 2000 should also be the first release to join the professional operating system and the consumer eliminating definitively the distinction still in vogue today in Redmond. Before the release of Whistler, as mentioned, WindowsMe and a service pack for Windows 2000 will arrive on the market.
