So now official: Unreal Tournament 2 will be converted for Mac OS X.
The announcement comes directly from Epic which has cut short all speculation about the methods and times with which the new version of the game and, above all, its engine, would have been made for our platform.
"We are directly porting – Epic president Mark Rein told some American newspapers. We have just started work with the one for Linux and we will complete it contextually ".
Rein did not provide any further explanations and details on the matter. In particular, it did not provide certain times for the release of Unreal Tournament 2 which in PC version should arrive before Christmas.
But although there is no reliable data on the time of release, the news to be reported as extremely relevant for the universe of games.
The engine of Unreal Tournament 2 is a completely rewritten version of what underlies a huge number of games on the market today. Its compatibility with the Mac world is essential to encourage developers who, by adopting the Unreal engine, intend to bring titles from the PC platform to the Mac platform.
Westlake Interactive, one of the most active companies in the field of porting that manufactures for different manufacturers, confirms the great benefits deriving from the decision to bring the Unreal Tournament 2 engine to Mac. "Once it is made available – says Glenda Adams, between Westlake Interactive makers – many games could be considered for conversion to Mac "
The Mac version of Unreal Tournament 2 real will be published by MacSoft.
