Pages, the word processor for Mac developed by Apple. In this series of tutorials we see together to take the first steps to become experts! Part46: How to View the changes detected in the document

The following scenario illustrates the use of change tracking to consolidate and respond to changes that two reviewers, Anna and Tommaso, make to the text of a document.

  1. With an open document, Thomas activates change tracking by choosing Composition> Track Changes. When the change tracking feature activates, its tracking bar is visible below the format bar.Screen 2013-05-08 at 20.25.58

These controls allow you to manage and move between document edits.

  2. Tommaso saves the document without making changes, closes it and sends it to Anna. This is the original version of the document.

  3. Anna opens the document and makes changes.

The changes made by Anna are displayed with an edit indicator and its edit bar appears to the left of the text she has changed.

  4. To view the detection speech bubbles, Anna clicks View in the toolbar, then chooses "Show Comments and Changes Panel".

  5. Anna saves the document, closes it and in turn sends it to Tommaso.

  6. Tommaso opens the document and reads the version of the text edited by Anna.

In the examples below, Tommaso's original document and version edited through change tracking are shown.Screen 2013-05-08 at 20.28.46

The document is displayed with the original text in black and Anna's changes appear with an edit indicator.

  7. Thomas approves Anna's revisions and clicks the checkmark in Anna's detection comics.Screen 2013-05-08 at 20.29.27

Tracking comics disappear. Text is no longer highlighted as changed and appears black.
