Turismo Torino e Provincia has presented a project in partnership with Mediaki.it to place Microsoft Tags, 2D color barcodes, at the main tourist attractions of the City of Turin. The project was presented at the Carignano Theater with the participation of all the partners involved.
"Our goal is to provide visitors to our city with the best possible experience," said Livio Besso Cordero, President of Turismo Torino e Provincia. "Many tourists today use their mobile phones to find their way around and to look for more information regarding the places they are visiting, so thanks to Microsoft Tags it becomes easier to connect modern tourists to the rich history and culture that Turin can offer."
Microsoft Tags offer the possibility to connect the physical world to the digital world by simply framing a colored symbol with your advanced mobile phone (the software available for Android, Blackberry, iPhone, PalmOS, Windows Phone, Windows Mobile and others). Thanks to this simple operation, visitors can access videos, multimedia content and in-depth information regarding the attractions they are visiting.
Turin is visited every year by over 3 million tourists from all over the world attracted by the uniqueness of the city and its millennial history. It was therefore necessary to find a new way to use the information and cultural richness offered by the city and the Mediaki.it project with Microsoft Tag represented an ideal tool to meet these needs.
The use of Microsoft Tags is very simple and Microsoft is experiencing a growing attention for this technology especially in the digital marketing field. To create a Tag just fill in some information on the Microsoft Tag Homepage. The tag is produced in various formats that allow it to be inserted in the promotional materials of interest. The tags can be in color or in black and white to adapt to different usage needs. Consumers can simply download the Tag application at http://gettag.mobi/ and then start using this technology immediately. (By Mauro Notarianni)
