The Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise 2010 lands on iPhone and touch – Macitynet.it
Today Paragon Software has announced the availability on the App Store of the British Concise Encyclopedia 2010, the compact version for iPhone and touch of one of the most popular encyclopedia worldwide. The work was created by the same editors of the Encyclopaedia Britannica: it contains over 25 thousand headwords that deal with every field of human knowledge between history, geography, politics, technology, science, sport and even popular culture. Compared to the complete version of the work, the user has more concise definitions, hence the adjective Concise of the name. In addition to the definitions, the program created by Paragon offers over 800 images and maps.
In addition to the search by term, you can use the History function which displays the last 100 articles searched. It is a complete tool to satisfy information needs for work or even simple curiosities during free time. For example, in a few taps it is possible to trace the exact date of the beginning of the Pompeii excavations or to know the origin of the name Wall Street. We can still know what happened on a particular day of the past with the "On this day" function, store your favorites, share the articles of the Encyclopedia with our contacts via email.
Other more interesting functions include the presence of hypertext links between the articles and the possibility of using wildcard characters, asterisk and question mark, to complete the unknown letters of a term or name. Recall that the application occupies only about 22MB in the memory of our paperback thanks to the compression routines used: the encyclopedia works without the need for an Internet connection.
British Concise Encyclopedia 2010 for iPhone and touch proposed on the App Store for 19.99 euros.
