The best trading card games on iOS and Android: our selection

We keep talking to you about best mobile games available on Android and iOS. This time we focus on the sector collectible card games, a videogame genre certainly crowded and full of many thick proposals.

As usual we will not only deal with the latest releases, but also small pearls that may have escaped you over time and therefore deserve to be mentioned once again. Here are the 5 games we recommend, but as always we wait your alternative proposals in the comments.

GWENT THE WITCHER CARD GAME

Let's start immediately with GWENT The Witcher Card Game, a competitive card game based on the universe of The Witcher, which, after landing on PC and iOS, has also been available on Android for a few days.

The CD Projekt Red card game, combining the CCG (Collectible Card Game) and TCG (Trading Card Game) genres, focuses on online PvP duels based on a round system: to triumph in a game it is therefore necessary to win two out of three rounds. The requirement to annihilate the opponent is to exceed the number of points in his army, that is the sum of the scores of the cards deployed on the board.

Unlike other products belonging to the genre, in GWENT the cards do not actually attack those of the opponents although some allow to lower the value (score) with possible elimination. The creation of balanced, versatile decks and the choice of cards at the beginning of each round are obviously the main requirements to be able to triumph in GWENT, however everything must be accompanied by a good dose of cunning and strategy.

GWENT The Witcher Card Game, in addition to being accompanied by a well-made technical sector, offers interesting game mechanics which provide an excellent alternative to those found in most card games: in short, for fans of the genre, the CD Projekt Red product is undoubtedly a "Must Have".

It should be noted that the game supports cross-play multiplayer between the Android, iOS and PC versions.

  • GWENT on Android is compatible with devices updated to Android 7.0 or newer, with at least 1.5GB of RAM.
  • GWENT on iOS requires iOS 12.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

ELDER SCROLLS LEGENDS

Let's continue with The Elder Scrolls Legends, the free to play card game with in-app purchases set in the universe of the well-known Bethesda RPG that with its seven expansions (The Fall of the Dark Brotherhood, Heroes of Skyrim, Return to Clockwork City, Houses of Morrowind, Moons of Elsweyr , War of the Alliances and Maw of Oblivion) was able to carve out its own space within a very crowded videogame genre.

Thanks to a full-bodied lore accompanied by a particular battlefield, (divided into areas with special areas), The Elder Scrolls Legends guarantees some original mechanics capable of bringing a breath of fresh air in the genre without upsetting the basics.

Strategy and decks suitable for any type of situation and opponent are the necessary requirements to win in the engaging PVP sector where you can challenge other players, climb the rankings and compete in tournaments and events.

The Elder Scrolls Legends, however, is not only multiplayer: the strategic card title of Bethesda is in fact also designed for those who prefer the game alone with a campaign mode with a well-defined plot which guarantees many hours of fun, allows you to hone your skills, to unlock rewards and exclusive cards.

TO BE WATCHED: LEGENDS OF RUNETERRA

These are our proposals currently available, but it is good to keep in mind that there are many new games coming soon. One example above all is Legends of Runeterra, the new title set in the universe of LoL, which will bring Riot Games in the field of collectible card games. The game seems to follow in the footsteps traced by Hearthstone, but we know well that the company is well able to reinterpret the formulas used by others and enrich them with lore and unique elements. We can't wait to try it!
