The hi-tech market has accustomed us to the opening of new frontiers, and while that of smart watches struggles to assert itself, there is another branch that appears on the launching pad. These are the tablet XL that, following the increase in screen size already consumed on smartphones to satisfy the ever-growing thirst of users' videos, today on the lips of all fans thanks to the fresh launch of theiPad Pro.

We now know everything about the tablet with the ad hoc keyboard and nib from Apple, and the wait for its arrival and related tests remains, but news today that Dell is also working on a hybrid tablet accompanied by a keyboard and pen to turn into a notebook and satisfy the needs of those looking at these devices to work (see graphics, architects, journalists, designers and other professions based on ideas and creativity). The first images of are filtered from the German site XPS-12, the name that the most attentive will remember as one of the best Ultrabooks of the American company, and that should designate the future two-in-one modular coming in October.

Dell XPS-12

From the Texan headquarters do not arrive for now confirmations n denials and the silence often synonymous of target centered. The specifications indicated by the rumors illustrate another product intended for professionals who want to rely on an object with different nuances and without compromise (even in the price, which of course is still unknown, but which, like the other similar models, will fall in the 800-1000 euro range). The 12-inch display in 4K (3840 × 2160 pixels) will have a contrast of 1200: 1 and brightness of 400 nits, the frame will have a minimum thickness thanks to InfinityEdge technology, the rear camera will integrate an 8 megapixel sensor and the front one a 5, with the battery that should ensure 10 hours of autonomy.

With backlit dock and Dell Active Stylus nib, both included in the purchase package (Microsoft puts the pen in it, but not the keyboard), we talk about an innovative touchpad (but there are no details) with the Thunderbolt 3 port which is almost certain.

Based on Windows 10, Dell's XPS will be a direct challenger to that Microsoft Surface to which we owe the opening of this new market. Despite the difficulties and the initial losses (remember the flop of the first version?), The Redmond company continued to believe and develop its hybrid tablet finally succeeding in the third attempt to make a real gem. And in the next few months it should arrive Surface Pro 4, improved in power and autonomy (the Intel RealSense 3D camera could also be there), which raises the level of the duel. With all due respect to Lenovo which, among the various devices shown at the IFA in Berlin, has launched the Ideapad Miix 700, a 12-inch tablet with back support and keyboard with magnetic coupling, always with Windows 10. Considering that Dell, HP and Microsoft announced a few days ago the Surface Enterprise Initiative program aimed at selling the Surface Pro 3 to companies through the channels of the two producers, the internal challenge between Windows 10 products is likely to benefit consumers and facilitate, probably, the way to Apple's iPad Pro, the only one that stands out as, at least, to the operating system.
