The first laptops with a built-in DVD burner should be announced today. Sony will launch a range that allows the possibility of creating DVD discs as well as seeing them.
The Japanese giant, according to some sources, will present six new models of its Vaio including three equipped with DVD-RW, the same standard used in Mac.
These are the Vaio PCG-GRX670, PCG-GRX690 and PCG-NV200. The top model will be priced at $ 2,800 and will be equipped with a 16.1-inch screen, 2 GHz Pentium 4 processor, 512 MB of Ram, 60 GB disk and 32 MB graphics card. The basic model will start at $ 1500 with a price to grow, depending on the configurations.
Included in every Sony laptop will also provide iDVD-like burning software called 'Click to DVD'
Sony should always announce today an ultra-thin external burner, called PCGA-DVRW1, which (probably) using the same mechanics as those included in the $ 600 coster laptops.
