QT and System, better the same language
"I upgraded my G4 with MacOs 9.04 Italian to QT 4.1.1 in the US version and all the software that has anything to do with the DV no longer works when it comes to capturing video. I went back to the old QT 4.03 Italian and everything came back normal "The message arrived to Macity from our reader Paolo Matricardi, confirms, if there were any need, that it is not always advisable to mix language versions of the operating system components, especially if they are parts that operate their functions with a profound interaction with the OS, as in the case of QuickTime. At the same time, the message once again leads to wonder why Apple still does not provide for download today, if not version 4.1. 1, QuickTime 4.1 in our language. A choice that we struggle to understand, given that the 4.1 is the version already available today on all post-Tokyo hardware. In any case, the impossibility (or inadvisability) to upgrade to QT 4.x should not worry you any more so many Mac users. The only real problem, the lack of audio / video synchronization in the DVD playback, seems to have disappeared even simply using the 4.03 and MacOs 9.04 versions, provided you use DVD Player 2.2 (this is already available in Italian) . This is confirmed by our reader who tells us that he has "no problem reading DVDs when using QuickTime 4.03 with the new Player 2.2"
