No iBooks outside the USA at the launch of the iPad – Macitynet.it
Bad news on the horizon for the first iPad users. In fact, by consulting Apple's international sites, such as the Australian and English and also Italian sites, we see the lack of iBooks among the features of the iPad, which is present on the American site.
The confirmation comes, then, from a note, which we can observe at the bottom of the page, also on the USA site, which specifies that the iBooks service available only in the United States.
It is not known why the absence of iBooks outside the US is due; Apple is probably still negotiating with publishers in various countries to make agreements on the availability of the material, although it seems strange, for example, to exclude the service from countries such as Great Britain and France. Publishing houses such as Hachette and Penguin – present during the presentation – are French and British publishers respectively, which would make one think immediately the inclusion of iBooks and their products on iPad.
The absence of iBooks is certainly an important aspect, considering the fact that it is one of the most important applications of the iPad. It is likely that sooner or later iBooks will also reach beyond American borders, but for now we have not been given information on when. (By Giordano Araldi)
