New RAM to reset boot times – Macitynet.it
When starting up, all computers need a fair amount of time before they become operational. The length of bootstrap times is a nuisance and a waste of time that many would gladly do without. Things could change thanks to a project by the Universit Nimwegen (Netherlands). In fact, a researcher is working on a special memory called MRAM (Magnetic Random Access Memory) thanks to which it should be possible to combine the advantages of RAM and hard disks. Normal RAM, in fact, offers fast phase access times. reading and writing but it loses all the data when the computer is turned off. With MRAM the data is saved magnetically, ensuring their long-lasting maintenance and offering the possibility to turn the computer off and on again in a very short time.
