These are the evidences that emerge from the new Audiweb data: the company released the total digital audience numbers for December 2018, from which it is possible to estimate the use of the Internet in the second half of the year just ended.

Audiweb data for the second half of 2018
According to this estimate, the total digital audience in the second half of 2018 has reached on average 42.3 million unique users in the month, accounting for 70% of the population aged 2 and over.
In this period of analysis they were 33.1 million individuals from 2 years upwards who have sailed on the average day, remaining online for a total of 3 hours per person.
From the media data on the devices used to access the Internet in these months of 2018, the preference of Italians for navigation via is confirmed smartphone. They are, in fact, on the average day of the semester 27.9 million the users who have surfed from smartphones, 62% of the adult population, online for 2 hours and 48 minutes on average per person, while 11.4 million users have surfed – even or only – on computers and 5.3 millions from tablet.

According to the new Audiweb data, in December 2018 there were 42.5 million individuals aged 2+ who connected to the Internet, dedicating a total of 75 hours online, equal to 3 days and 3 hours.
The most involved groups are still the youngest, with 82.5% of the 18-24 year olds connected at least once on the average day and 81.5% of the 25-34 year olds.
The total digital audience on an average day represented by 32.4 million of users and, as for the previous months, also in December the use of smartphone to access the network.
New Audiweb data: 27 million Italians surf from smartphones
The use of mobile involves the entire adult population in a consolidated way, on various levels and on frequencies that are not very different, leaving behind but with a fairly stable share of the over 64 segment, involved in 25.3% of cases. Furthermore, women show a clear preference for smartphone browsing (63.8% online from smartphones), exceeding the share of men using a smartphone to browse in 59.9%, as well as for the youngest.
Furthermore,80.5% of the total time spent online generated by use via smartphone, with smaller quotas for use by computers and tablets. The greater interest on the part of women and young people in using this device translates, in order, into 82% of the total online time for women and 85.2% of the total time of 18-24 year olds, followed by 25-34 year olds with 83% of the total time spent on navigation.
