Microsoft: "We could withdraw the X-BOX from Australia" – Macitynet.it
Microsoft could withdraw the X-BOX from the Australian market if the marketing of the so-called "Mod Chips" were made legal, processors that allow the console to use copied software or in any case not authorized to work with it.
The possibility of canceling the possibility for customers of the continent to purchase the flagship product in the Redmond gaming field was put forward by CEO Steve Ballmer and explicitly related to the proliferation of protection system modification systems.
"The legal system – said Ballmer – must protect our investments. If this is not the case, we will consider the possibility of withdrawing the X-BOX from Australia ".
Microsoft's fears are based on a sentence by a local judge who has made the sale of the Mod Chips for PS 2 and, therefore, also for X-BOX, not illegal.
Microsoft recently put in place a real siege on the producers of Mod Chip by requiring the closure of sales sites and changing the hardware so as to put out the "Mod" already on the market.
According to some sources, the next step could be the use of network connection capabilities to remotely verify the presence of hacks for the use of copied games.
