Microsoft has just opened public tests for its new Office app, intended for devices Android and iOS. This combines in one application Word, PowerPoint and Excel, with the aim of simplifying things for users.
Microsoft makes Word, Excel and PowerPoint available in one app
Those interested can try it out the public preview Microsoft Office for Android or download the beta version through the Test Flight program on iOS. The Redmond company announced its new app during the Ignite conference held in Orlando, Florida. Before that, the house offered separate apps for each application related to Word, PowerPoint and Excel, available on both systems.
By combining all three apps into one, Microsoft will allow users to download only a single app and have all the functions of the package Office at your fingertips. The app will allow you to view Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, as well as edit them. The house also specifies that users will also be able to take a photo of a document and convert it in Word format, being able to edit it later.
The new Microsoft Office app will also allow you to edit, create and sign documents in PDF format. However, the app is not intended to replace individual existing Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps. The company wants to maintain the ability to download these applications separately and let users choose whether to have everything on an app or not.
However, the best solution for those who usually use all the apps on their smartphone. The preview for now only available for the latter type of devices and does not support tablets. Microsoft's apps are still the best in the field of mobile productivity, reaching well 1 billion downloads and keeping up with competition from Google.
