Microsoft continues the battle against mod chips – Macitynet.it
Microsoft continues its battle against the producers of the so-called "Mod chips" that allow the use of copied discs or unauthorized software on the X-Box.
During the day yesterday, the Australian branch of Redmond confirmed that it had taken legal action to close the website of a Hong Kong company, Lik Sang, one of the major producers of this type of semiconductor.
Lik Sang, in addition to mod chips for other types of consoles, also released a small processor for the X-Box.
In recent days, Microsoft had already confirmed that it had implemented hardware changes capable of putting all the chips currently on the market out of use and of having changed the bios of the X-Box always to prevent the use of the Mod chips.
In the past, no hardware manufacturer has ever taken such decisive action to prevent the marketing of this type of product.
