Mac OS X does the miracle: doubled the Mac developers – Macitynet.it
Among the innovations highlighted most strongly by Apple during yesterday's keynote is the constant and progressive success of Mac OS X. A success that, explained in a release, is reflected in the growing number of applications brought to the new platform.
"Since the launch of Mac OS X 10.1 – says Cupertino – the number of programs has doubled and reaches today 3000".
But the aspect that appears most comforting in this process is the increase not only in the number of applications, but in the developers.
According to Apple since March 2001, the launch date of Mac OS X, the community dedicated to the production of software for Mac has grown by twice with the arrival of new programmers from other platforms. "Over 46% of Apple Developer Connection subscribers – says Apple – are Java or UNIX programmers."
The presence of professionals of powerful but not very popular platforms in the consumer environment seems to enhance Apple which sees concrete growth prospects: "With technology such as Quartz Extreme, QT6 and Rendezvous, developers will be able to create applications that you cannot even imagine in other operating systems"
