Lockdown Rome 2020: the magic of the deserted capital in cinematic images shot with iPhone

Deserted Rome, at the time of the Coronavirus, told in the Lockdown Rome cinematic 2020 video. Just over two minutes of footage shot entirely with iPhone 8, in which the videomaker Marco Taormina pays tribute to the capital – to its empty squares and streets – and at the same time, also to the operators of the audiovisual sector always active in these weeks of restrictions for the health emergency.

The Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Piazza di Spagna, the Circus Maximus and many other glimpses of the most fascinating in Rome, were filmed in the Lockdown weeks by the videomaker. Marco Taormina carried out all the shooting with iPhone 8 and with the addition of a wide angle anamorphic cinematic lens which allows the cinema effect.

With the iPhone, the videomaker has taken up the magic of a Rome "on hiatus": the closed padlocks, the lowered shutters of the shops, the desert in front of the windows of the major fashion brands and the entrances to the most important monuments. And, thanks to the soundtrack, those who observe the images can only feel the desire to see the crowd in line as soon as possible to see ancient Rome, the open newsstands, the rowdy bars and the disorder of cars and scooters on the streets of the capital .

The video dedicated to all operators in the audiovisual sector who have never stopped to continue to inform even during the most difficult days.

My message of love for the city of Rome with its immortal beauty, which I had the privilege of continuing to live, for work, even during the days of the lockdown; and at the same time a message of solidarity towards the operators of the audiovisual sector – explains the independent Sicilian videomaker of 44 years -. I wanted to testify that those who do this job have a duty to never stop and sacrifice themselves to bring information always and in any case to everyone's homes. Ours is the most beautiful profession in the world even if it is not always recognized the value it deserves.
