On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile, Sonos and Ikea present a preview of the result of a joint project with lights and sounds at Torneria Tortona, in via Novi 5 in Milan, from 9 to 14 April.
This is the speaker that has been talked about for some time but also of a novel that has long been hidden and which now also comes in a bright mode.
According to Iina Vuorivirta, one of the IKEA of Sweden designers who designed the unprecedented SYMFONISK lamp with wi-fi speakerthis is inspired in part by the fireplaces, capable of emitting both a warm light and sounds and detaches itself from the previous Sonos production offering a completely new shape and function to a multi-room speaker.
The SYMFONISK table lamp with Wi-Fi speaker
The SYMFONISK table lamp with wi-fi speaker offers a sound with the quality of Sonos devices included in a design object that can be easily coordinated with different furnishing styles (the versions available will be black and white). In addition to this, the SYMFONISK table lamp combines lights and sounds in a single product, reducing the number of devices and cables, for a tidier home.
The recommended selling price for the SYMFONISK table lamp with wi-fi speaker of 179 Euros, obviously like all Sonos products, it can also be managed in pairs, making it a good system suitable for bedrooms, living rooms with small TVs, lighting and sound systems an input or as surround speakers to be placed behind or next to the sofa.
SYMFONISK bookshelf wi-fi speaker
The appearance of the SYMFONISK bookshelf wi-fi speaker is more traditional, a multifunctional speaker that can be connected to different devices and sold at an affordable price. Thanks to its versatility, this bookshelf speaker integrates in many ways within the home, allowing you to choose whether to hide it or leave it in sight. It weighs 3 kg, including the bracket.
You can fix it to the kitchen rails thanks to the hooks, or place it horizontally or vertically on a surface.
The diffuser can be positioned vertically on a shelf, capable of completely hiding and camouflaging itself between books. The wall option in which whoever the same speaker positioned horizontally allows it to function as a real shelf.
The recommended selling price for the SYMFONISK bookshelf wi-fi speaker of 99.95.
Both speakers are compatible with Sonos products that can be directly controlled with the Sonos app to manage both multi-instance audio and listening continuity between different sources (iPad, iPhone and Android phones). The lamp has a brightness adjustment and the speaker has volume and reproduction controls on the front.
How can they enter the world of Smart Home? Apart from the great versatility of the Sonos systems that are included in all home automation systems, these two speakers do not have microphones on board but can be controlled both by an Amazon Echo with Alexa microphone system (routing via Wi-Fi) and, in the case of the lamp, from the Tradfri routine that also combines IKEA Zigbee lamps with Alexa Wi-Fi. They are also compatible with Airplay 2, making it the most economical system for multi-channel audio compatible with the systems Apple.
While the shelf model certainly has performances not comparable to the current Sonos speakers, according to the companies, the lamp model can more or less fall into the class of Sonos One systems (which we have tried on this macitynet page) taking into account the new factor of form.
Both speakers will hit the market in August 2019.
