LCD, Taiwanese plants at the maximum production limit – Macitynet.it
The five Chinese manufacturers of LCD screens are now very close to the saturation of the systems. Indeed, four of them, AU Optronics, Chi Mei Optoelectronics, Chunghwa Picture Tubes and HannStar Display are in fact no longer able to increase beyond production. Only Quanta Display, according to what the Taiwanese technological newspaper Digitimes reports, still has some room for maneuver. The news comes in the context of an increasing popularity of liquid crystal displays, now more and more widespread also in the context of desktops which determines growth of orders for this type of products. The fact that Taiwanese, the world's largest producers of LCD screens, are very close to the saturation of the plants suggests that the next few months are unlikely to be able to witness a fall in prices. Better prospects for both availability of the number of screens which, consequently, prices are expected within the end of the month. Both Quanta, Chi Mei Optoelectronics and AU Optronics are planning an increase in their production lines. In particular, AU Optoelectronics, the true giant of the sector with over 730,000 screens produced per month, has prepared an expansion plan which should start in June and be completed by the end of the year. From January to April production increased by 10% . A record leap for an industry considered, until recently, to be a niche.
