IPhone developers will be able to compete at IGF 2011 – Macitynet.it
With an official announcement, UBM TechWeb Game Network, the company that organizes the annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, has announced the opening of registrations for the 2011 edition of the Independent Games Festival, the largest development contest dedicated to independent developers. From now until October 18, all video game developers will be able to register their works (whether complete or still in development) to participate in a competition that sees the huge sum of $ 50,000 at stake, distributed among the winners of the various categories.
In addition, the next edition of the IGF introduces interesting news for developers of iPhones and other smartphones: if until last year mobile games could compete only in a skimpy Mobile category, from now on they will be valued on the same level as games for console and PC, competing on equal terms in the main categories. The finalists will be chosen by a jury of over 170 representatives from the video game industry and the specialized press, and will be announced on January 3: all will be made playable at the Game Developers Conference, while the awards ceremony will take place on March 2. This is an interesting opportunity for all iPhone and iPod Touch game developers, as the contest finalists will be in the spotlight of the international press.
