In view of the next Apple event, rumors about the next version 4.0 of the iPhone OS are already starting to flock, considered by many to be one of the protagonists of January 27th.
The latter are collected by BGR, which in turn would have received them from a source "trusted very close to Apple"; the indiscretions are clear enough even if not detailed and, if confirmed, they foresee an interesting future.
The new iPhone 4.0 should introduce multitouch gestures that can be used widely on the whole new operating system. In addition to this, one of the most interesting features would be the introduction of "some new ways" for running applications in the background; which would mean the introduction of multitasking that many observers have been waiting for for a long time. Finally, a new synchronization mode should also be introduced, concerning contacts and calendar, but on this point the rumors become quite smoky.
The update, again according to what reported by BGR, should be available for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS and will bring the devices one step ahead of the competition in the smartphone market, because they are closer to real computers, more than any other rival .
We still don't know if Apple will actually present iPhone OS 4.0, but with the approach of January 27 the rumors are becoming more insistent; we just have to wait for the next Wednesday to find out if the rumors correspond to reality. [By Giordano Araldi]
