The summary mirror was published by Jon Prosser, the founder of the YouTube channel FrontPageTech, which says the prototype development phase is over. The indiscretions perfectly match what has been rumored for months, thanks above all to Ming-Chi Kuo; the range will be composed as follows.

  • 6.1 "iPhone 12 | D53G | Aluminum body | 2 rear cameras
  • 6.1 "iPhone 12 Pro | D53P | Stainless steel shell 3 rear cameras + LiDAR
  • 6.7 "iPhone 12 Pro | D54P | Stainless steel shell 3 rear cameras + LiDAR

The source also says that there will be several elements common to all four models, such as SoC Apple A14, connectivity 5G and, in front, a smaller notch.

No shocking news compared to what we already knew so far, therefore, but a couple of interesting little things are there. Widely used in the automotive sector, especially in relation to autonomous driving, it allows sensors to accurately map the surrounding 3D environment. Apple uses it for improve AR functionality of its products. The first confirmations of the arrival of LIDAR on the new iPhones date back to yesterday.
