iPhone 12: confirmations for 4 OLED models and 6 GB of RAM on the Pros also from UBS

The precise details of how this year's iPhone range will be made are more confusing than ever: we are still not even sure how many models there will be. Some think it will be "four plus one", or an update of the current iPhone plus the "splitting" of the normal 12 with a more compact diagonal, plus an economic one; according to others, however, the cheap iPhones, 9 or SE2, will be two, one normal and one "Plus". Even according to UBS analysts the "formation" will be four with a "module 2 + 2": 2 Pro and 2 normal, all with OLED display and 5G modem. In summary (the names have not been explicitly said, we add them speculating "with common sense"):

  • iPhone 12 Pro: 6.1 and 6.7 inches with triple camera, 3D sensor and 6 GB of RAM
  • iPhone 12: 5.4 and 6.1 inches with dual cameras and 4 GB of RAM

What stands out, in particular, is the confirmation of the rumor at the end of last year according to which both the most prestigious models, or the alleged new Pro, will have 6 GB of RAM, against the 4 of the current generation. The same rumor had circulated last year, but later proved to be unfounded.

The whole iPhone 9 talk remains out of the game: it is possible that Apple has decided that this "2 + 2" strategy covers a sufficiently wide range of the market and does not intend to add anything else – considering that the models also remain on sale, at reduced prices. previous generation? Or, simply, UBS has focused only on the models that will succeed the iPhone 11. In this case, the "2 + 2 + 2" theory could still hold up.
