Imac, sales below expectations? – Macitynet.it
According to analyst firm Morgan Stanley Apple will not be able to reach the expected number of 300,000 iMac units sold during the quarter. The news spread later on Friday arousing caution among investors who bet on Apple.
Morgan Stanley did not specify the sources from which he deduced the lowering of the sales forecast which now sets at 235,000, but according to some observers the problems may be due to some difficulties in the production chain. In reality, the forecast of 300,000 machines delivered in a quarter it appears decidedly very high. Apple has never officially set such an ambitious threshold and major analysts continue to estimate deliveries expected by Apple for iMac at 250,000 or 260,000 a quarter.
It is no coincidence that during the course of Friday Salomon Smith Barney, another prestigious analysis company, reiterated that Apple never spoke of 300,000 units.
Note that Salomon Smith Barney also expects iMac deliveries to be below budget. According to a release, Apple forecasted around 260,000 units sold, but will not exceed 225 / 250,000. A drop that in any case is much more tolerable than Morgan Stanley predicted at 300,000 forecasts.
Needless to say, selling 50,000 fewer machines weighs more on the budget than selling 10,000 less than expected.
