IE 5.0 doesn't like everyone
"I downloaded it – writes Mario Artoni – but unfortunately I did not find any benefit. First of all it doesn't connect to the site "http://apple.excite.com/" it stops during the connection .. I tried to connect to the same site with Nescape Communicator to check for possible connection problems, … in just over 2 / 3 seconds I saw the entire page. On the VersionTracker site after repeated Nescape links always resulted faster. The only site where IE was faster in loading I was own and only with that of Macity. (…) I must say that the interface is very pleasant … maybe a little to replace Nescape. "An opinion substantially shared by Davide De Luca who writes an email from the eloquent title "San Netscape". "I am at the sixth reboot in 20 minutes using Explorer 5. For two hours I have been browsing with the new browser and discover that Microsoft products always hide some nice holes. (…) When you try to play or run the "collapse men" options and then click on the twister icon (refresh) once or twice, the program collapses. (…) Same thing happened to me (tired of restarting I haven't tried again), by clicking on "page holder", in the Explorer Bar, for one, two, stop! Crash! The crash mode similar to OutLook 5.0 when it performs some operations. I thought it was a conflict of extensions and instead I tried again on 2 other iMacs. Same result. I state that I am using MacOs 904 on two of the 3 iMacs (…) for the moment will continue to use the Spartan (compared to the innovative Ex) Netscape 4.6 which at least works or at least closes unexpectedly. I trust in Netscape 6.0.Memory size and requests do not convince our other readers. "Here's another nice monster – Attilio Pronzello tells us – 11 MB of disk occupation, 5 MB of Ram minimum request but in fact at least 15 MB to work properly. I'm not a partisan of Netscape and I don't hate Microsoft products on principle, I simply wonder why nobody thinks of doing a web browser that is that and that's it and of human dimensions. All this complication makes IE 5.0 on my G3 / 233 not the first hair but still not really obsolete slow and cumbersome to launch and the scrolling of the pages proceeds in jerks. I hope in Opera Browser ”.The race for alternative navigators is a constant in many emails received yesterday. "I choose the third way", the mail, even in this case very explanatory from the title, by Marco Donegani. "The attempt to dominate the web by large corporations – states in a text that has the flavor of strategic resolution – go to browser control. We choose the alternative and independent ones if we do not want to see the independence of the network cease". Almost philosophical assumptions that are contained, turned anti-Microsoft, even in an email by Diego Krota who writes "I understand Macity: from an editorial point of view, it cannot ignore IE. But from the point of view of my intellectual honesty I can't use Microsoft software trying the most total and violent repulsion for everything branded with the symbol of the window company. I can't do it right. I hope that, like me, others will embrace the cause and become software partisans. I joined Netscape iCab and I have to say that it should be a sliver, very fast. The back is instantaneous (the one of NS no!) The optimal offline navigation ".
