IDC: iPhone growth exceeds that of the smartphone sector – Macitynet.it
iPhone the smartphone that grows more than any other model: data emerge from the last report published by IDC in which the Apple smartphone recorded an impressive + 97.7% in the last quarter of 2009. The figure highlights the positive trend of the sales for Apple during the winter holidays. iPhone thus marks more than double growth compared to the percentage of growth of the internal smartphone segment, equal to 39%, and exceeds both RIM and growth of 40.8% and also Motorola which registers + 56.3%.
Also from the IDC report, the progression of the iPhone is also photographed in the overall situation in the smartphone segment between 2008 and 2009. At the end of last year, Apple was third with 14.4% of the market behind the first Nokia (38.9%). and Research in Motion with 19.8%. While Nokia grew by 11.9% and RIM by 46.2% for Cupertino, the percentage of year-on-year growth of 81.9%. These growth figures should be compared with an overall sector growth of 15.1%.
