HomeKit controls General Electric air conditioners (in the United States)

In April of this year General Electric (GE) presented its first window conditioners manageable with Apple's HomeKit technology; the air conditioners in question were suitable for small rooms but now the company has presented larger models, always with integrated smart home features that can be managed with HomeKit and adapted for rooms up to 50 square meters

The company's press release refers to models from 8,000 to 12,000 BTU. GE is the first appliance manufacturer in the US to introduce a line of HomeKit compatible air conditioners.

From the Home app for iOS (and, soon, also from macOS 10.14 Mojave) you can manage the cold air with a tap or by asking Siri. It is also possible to create automatisms by performing a certain series of actions, such as turning off or on the air conditioners in certain hours. The units can also be controlled remotely, even when away from home.

At home, you can manage the air conditioners with the Home app for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or – using Siri – also with the HomePod; from the outside it is possible to carry out the control thanks to the Apple TV or HomePod which can become a domestic "hub".

In our country various manufacturers offer air conditioners, also with integrated WiFI connectivity. The models that are equipped with it allow you to control and manage the air conditioner via smartphone, tablet or PC, thus saving energy: using the dedicated app, you can program the air conditioner according to your needs at any time.
