Google absorbs Nest to fight Apple HomeKit and Amazon Alexa – Macitynet.it
Lunione is strength and at Google the implementation of this motto was announced yesterday with the merger of the Nest team with the one that develops the devices that use Google Home. In a blog post, the Mountain View company writes that the goal is to enhance Nest's mission: to create a more welcoming home that takes care of its inhabitants and the world around it.
By working together we will continue to combine hardware, software and services, thus creating a safer home, more environmentally friendly, smarter and even capable of saving users money.
The move comes at the best time for the company founded by the iPod father Tony Fadell and acquired by Google in November 2014: only in the past year would it have sold twice the number of devices marketed in the previous two years. Google says it wants to put artificial intelligence and virtual assistant at the center of everything. All of our investments in AI and machine learning will clearly benefit Nest. Joining forces is only the natural consequence of our evolution.
