EU, no investigation on XP
For now, no investigation into Windows XP by the EU antitrust commission. The spokesman of the same commission, Amelia Torres, confirmed that the Community has not "unofficially or officially" started an investigation to find out if the new OS breaks the rules of free competition. Times has denied that an investigation into XP has started. According to the financial newspaper, the Antritrust Commission had in fact sent a series of questions to Microsoft to verify how it intends to make the distribution of software with XP compatible with the rules for free competition. "There have been no developments – said Torres – with respect to what was communicated last August 30 when we asked for clarifications on the system with which Microsoft has linked Windows Media Player to Windows. We are still waiting for an answer since then ?.
