ESA invites companies to submit their ideas for the development and testing of services to respond to emergencies
Satellite communications, Earth observation, satellite navigation and other innovative technologies to respond to current extraordinary circumstances and to combat coronavirus. And this goal of the funding notice launched by ESA, the European Space Agency, in collaboration with MID, the Minister for technological innovation and digitization and the support of the Italian Space Agency and of other nations.
Through this notice, lESA invites companies to submit their ideas for the development and testing of services to respond to the emergency that Europe, and especially Italy which among the most affected countries, is facing due to the spread of Coronavirus.
Linvito will facilitate the development of projects dedicated to implementation and testing of pre-operative servicesi, aimed at the healthcare or educational sectors.
We are interested in supporting European companies in developing and distributing their best ideas to respond to the current crisis, highlighting the contribution that space can make in these circumstances, said Magali Vaissiere, ESA Director of Integrated Telecommunications and Applications. A quick approach has been put in place to respond to the pressing needs of citizens and institutions. We are pleased to work with the Minister for Technological Innovation and Digitization to launch the initiative in Italy and reach local communities.
Paola Pisano, Minister for Technological Innovation and Digitization, commented: We are facing a global emergency that has highlighted the importance of digital and data technologies; the power of innovation even more evident. Right now, the priority is to develop common international strategies in the public and private sector, and to research institutes. LESA, the Italian Space Agency and the Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with responsibility for the space sector, Riccardo Fraccaro, join forces to win this battle.
The possible areas of application have been coordinated with stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Education, and discussed with the Italian Space Agency, which has proven competence and experience acquired thanks to special national initiatives.
