The effective and painless management of smartphones and business tablets is surely one of the main causes of headaches for thousands of companies, especially small ones, struggling with the merits (many) and risks (as many) of the new wave of “ consumerization ".

As evidence of the actuality of the theme, Research In Motion announced in these days the launch of the BlackBerry Management Center, a free online service dedicated to small businesses to manage company smartphones and those of employees, exploiting cloud technology and protecting the contents present in smartphones. The service designed for companies that have up to 100 BlackBerry smartphones available, accessing email services by connecting to a specific ISP (Internet service provider) or to email services on the web such as Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo !.

We are pleased to present the latest RIM cloud service, designed specifically for small businesses, says Alan Panezic, Vice President of Enterprise Product Management at RIM. The BlackBerry Management Center is a free service and an effective way to manage and support employees using cloud computing.

The BlackBerry Management Center allows easy management of company and employee-owned smartphones on the cloud, as well as minimizing risks in case of loss or theft of the same and continuing to work despite these drawbacks. The service offers small businesses different functions:

– Daily, weekly or monthly backups of wireless data stored on BlackBerry devices to allow easy retrieval of contents related to company activities. – it is possible to safeguard contents on a lost or stolen smartphone, blocking them remotely and, if necessary, deleting them completely, including those contained in the microSD card. – A lost BlackBerry can be traced via remote access. With this mode it is in fact possible to lock the smartphone, make it ring and make the desired message appear on the display. – The content and settings can easily be restored on a spare smartphone. – Possibility to reset a password
