Canon has announced EOS RP, its smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera ever made.

Presented as an economical solution for those wishing to switch to a full-frame mirrorless camera, the new EOS RP with a sensor 26.2 megapixel CMOS powered by the image processor DIGIC 8. Its auto focus system Dual pixel CMOS boasts 4,779 AF points manually selectable that can be locked on a subject in 0.05 seconds. The latest Canon has a standard ISO range of 100 – 40,000 for still images and 100 – 25,600 for video and uses the same 0.39-inch, 2.36 electronic viewfinder million points of the EOS R. Also, it features the same 3.0-inch multi-angle touchscreen LCD and the Bluetooth connectivity and integrated Wi-Fi.The video is not the strong point of the EOS RP for, as it can capture video only in 4K UHD (3.840 x 2.160) at 24 fps (or Full HD at 60 fps). EOS RP works perfectly with RF lenses and with one of three optional mounting adapters and you can also use EF and EF-S lenses.The body will not add a ton of weight to your camera bag, in fact the weight of the modest machine, alone 490 grams approx.
Canon EOS RP camera: price and availability
The Canon EOS available for pre-orders a 1,569 for the body only. It will also be available with a 24-105mm f / 3.5 – 5.6 IS EF lens or an RF 24-105mm f / 4 lens. The machine is already available for pre-order also in Italy and the launch scheduled for March.
