The agreement that should bring the iPod on board BMWs now seems something more than just a voice. According to reports from the American site Macminute, in fact, an advertising page presenting the initiative would be published in some specialized magazines in the USA.
The announcement states that thanks to the unspecified accessory, it allows control directly from the steering wheel of the iPod, which in turn connects to the on-board stereo system. The accompanying image does not clarify the operation, for example it is not clear if it is a wireless connector or if it is not much more likely a sort of "dock" to put the iPod in communication with the car stereo. A similar solution was also adopted by the Smart which offers a limited series model of its car equipped with an iPod.
The accessory, the announcement reads, will be available for the machines of the 3, X3 and Z4 series.
The experiment conducted with BMW could only be the first step in the integration of iPod with stereo car radios. During the day yesterday, as reported by Macity, Jobs has indeed announced that within the year Cupertino will release an accessory destined for this purpose.
