Compared to the illustrious predecessor, the Mobile version of SketchBook for Apple's pocket-sized touchpads offers a selected series of tools and functions, in each chance the goal is not to offer a complete software for graphic designers, but to transform iPhone and touch into a sort of piece of paper or digital napkin, useful for capturing inspiration and a good idea wherever they appear, wherever find the user.

Used on iPhone Edge, 3G and touch SketchBook Mobile offers a palette of 600 × 400 pixels and three levels for working, instead on iPhone 3GS the palette grows up to 1024 × 682 and the levels become 6. Among the available tools we mention 25 integrated between pencils, pens, highlighters, airbrush and the user is free to create new customized ones.

To work in detail on the small pocket screen, the software offers a magnification of up to 2,500%. Among the most interesting functions we mention the possibility of importing photos and layers from the Photo Library archive or of shooting on the fly with iPhone, the tools to merge the layers and to adjust their transparency, the possibility of saving the work in progress and exporting those finished between the images or send them by email, the possibility to go back one step or to advance up to 10 steps, the simulation of the pressure on the screen by stroke and colors, the symmetrical design and much more.

SketchBook Mobile proposed on the App Store for 2.39 euros. Recall that a free Lite version is also available with some limited functions.
