Apple filed a new lawsuit against HTC for some additional patents not mentioned in the previous March lawsuit. In addition to two patents already cited in the original lawsuit and probably re-indicated by mistake, the new accusation cites previously unmentioned patents: the concept of adapting the user interface based on the real-time settings of the display (a function that has dealing with unlocking the phone) and processor power management techniques.
With this new move, Apple is making its muscles feel, although according to some analysts, the real target Google and the growth of the Android market. The Droid Incredible, the Evo 4G, the Nexus One and many other Android phones are made by HTC: if the International Trade Commission (ITC) gives reason to Apple, HTC will have to pay Cupertino royalty for each device sold to continue produce devices.
Recall that even HTC has at the time denounced Apple, stating that the Cupertino company would infringe five patents. In addition to HTC, the International Trade Commission is evaluating causes and cons lawsuits between Apple and Nokia.
