In addition to the defections, some companies have announced the reduction of events and appointments such as TCL and tougher prevention measures, such as Xiaomi. The safety and well-being of all our employees and partners is our top priority and we have withdrawn from this year's Mobile World Congress out of plenty of caution as Venturbeat reports from an Intel spokesperson. So far GSMA, the global organization that brings together smartphone manufacturers and mobile operators, has responded to the numerous and important defections by continuing to increase preventive and health measures.

In its latest update dated 9 February, travelers coming from the province of Hubei where the epidemic started were forbidden to enter the fair. In addition, any traveler who has visited China recently will have to prove that he was out of the country 14 days before MWC 2020. The fair will start on February 24th, thus reducing safety margins and filling in many trips and transfers for numerous Chinese companies that they are present at the Mobile World Congress every year.
