iPhone 4: AT&T blocks pre-orders – Macitynet.it

Bad surprise for Americans who decided to pre-order the new iPhone 4 today: the operator AT&T has suspended any entry of new orders into the system until further notice. The news comes from an internal memo of the operator in which all pre-order operations for the new iPhone are officially suspended, with the precise indication to avoid any new insertion in the servers. The full text of the AT&T memo has also been published by TBGR.

A total block that arrives only one day after the start of orders, perhaps the only possible solution given the numerous problems that emerged since the early hours of yesterday. Macitynet has already reported slowdowns for online procedures, crashes in the new Apple Store app and finally Apple and AT&T employees forced to use pen and paper to collect pre-order data.

While on the one hand the new smartphone in the USA has sold out for the launch day June 24, the problems and slowness already seen for the launches of the previous models have also been repeated for iPhone 4.

This time for the problem it seems more serious and not only connected to iPhone 4: in the past few days AT&T seems to have updated the servers to fill the vulnerabilities that led to the theft of data of numerous iPad users. An update that, according to the rumors circulating on the net, immediately gave problems, so much so as to have prevented the tests of the software for iPhone reservations, two combined factors that brought the AT&T system to its knees. Pre-orders will resume after an official communication; in the meantime, a team of employees is manually managing all the pre-orders collected yesterday and that could not be placed on the servers.
