The user base of DSL high-speed lines is growing faster than expected.
According to data collected from an online survey of the DSL forum, from July 1st to September 30th, five million new users of the digital service have been registered, with an increase of 20% on new subscriptions compared to the previous quarter.
The percentage increase in the last quarter was the largest recorded by the DSL forum and bodes well for reaching the target of 36 million at the end of the year and 200 million at the end of 2005.
Currently DSL users, a category of connectivity to which our ADSL belongs, are 30 million worldwide, to which are added about 15 million cable modem users, very popular in the USA.
Also on a global scale, the first country in the world in the use of DSL is South Korea, with 27% of the Internet connections implemented with this system. Asia and the Pacific are the area in the world where the highest DSL penetration; Europe in second place followed by the USA and Canada
