OV2720, the smallest 1080p sensor for integrated webcams in the world – Macitynet.it
OV2720 the first 2 megapixel CMOS sensor (1932 × 1092) usable for the creation of webcams to be integrated, for example, in notebooks. The sensor produced by OmniVision (Californian company specialized in solutions for digital images) and supports 1080p video streams. The dimensions are 1/6 of an inch, an ideal format for notebooks, netbooks, webcams and other devices that will benefit from a 1080p / 30fps CMOS sensor. According to the manufacturer, the sensor offers good performance even in low light conditions (compared to products with typical VGA resolution) and a product that could end up, for example, in new generation iPhones. The large-scale production of the product is expected from June. The hardware can be controlled via software and parameters such as: exposure, white balance, cancellation of pixels can be controlled.
