OnePlus 8 series phones will cost less than a thousand dollars: Pete Lau confirms it

After months of rumors and teaser launches on his next "top of the range" series, yesterday OnePlus has finally announced a launch date for the phones OnePlus 8. In a post published on the various community forums, the Shenzhen-based company revealed that the OnePlus 8 series will be launched globally on April 14 and even confirmed that the devices will feature a 120Hz display and 5G support. Now, in a further post, company CEO Pete Lau has revealed a few more details about the upcoming devices.

To begin with, Lau has confirmed that the new smartphones will be powered by the processor Snapdragon 865, true Qualcomm "flagship", combined with memory LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 for "fast and smooth" performance. The updated hardware will guarantee the device a 20% increase in CPU performance and a 25% increase in GPU performance, while maintaining 25% energy efficiency more than the last generation.

In another post published on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, the company revealed further details on the 120Hz display of the OnePlus 8 series. According to the images shared in the post, the display of the OnePlus 8 smartphone presenter a 2K + resolution with a pixel density of 513ppi and a maximum brightness of 1300 nits, with 4096 levels of brightness adjustment.

With all these excellent features it would be easy to imagine a price for the new OnePlus phones not less than a thousand dollars, about 915 euros per exchange. However, according to a recent Business Insider article, this will not be the case at all. The "report" states that the Shenzhen company has confirmed that the 5G variants of the OnePlus 8 series will not exceed the $ 1000 threshold in the United States.

If this intention were confirmed, it would be cheaper 5G smartphones on the market. OnePlus has not yet revealed the exact prices, but has not said that some further revelation will not come out in the next few days.
