Apple she would go back to work on Touch ID. No, this is not a return to the next generation of iPhones, but a debut on Apple Watch 6:. And it even transpires some information on the even later model of the Apple Watch, the 7, which will arrive in 2021.
The rumors come from some long-standing sources of colleagues from The Verifier, which report a Touch ID integrated in the crown digital device (where the electrode for ECG functions already exists), and which would allow the user to authenticate when the smartwatch is not connected to the iPhone without going through the PIN, but simply with the finger.
The Announcements expected, of course, do not stop there: not only improved battery and connectivity, with Wi-Fi 6 and support for a wider spectrum of LTE networks, greater waterproofness, but there is also talk of support for blood oxygen measurement (clues have already surfaced in iOS 14), and one new sleep monitoring function, a feature that should come with watchOS 7 (which will not be supported, it seems, by Apple Watch 2).
But it did not end there, because the sources of The Verifier they also went off balance Apple Watch 7, arguing that it should complement the Touch ID under the display.
In fact, if the rumors on Apple Watch were confirmed, then perhaps it would be reasonable to expect a return of the Touch ID up iPhone: the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in fact, claims that at the beginning of 2021 Apple should release a new economic model of the iPhone with the fingerprint reading sensor that will make its return, but abandoning the dear and old Home button to leave space to the screen, and moving to the power button that will be on the side.
In short, it is not yet time to put our hand (indeed, the finger) on the fire, but soon we could witness a revival of the Touch ID.
