Apple, the XDR Pro Display now supports custom reference modes

In the past few hours, in addition to iOS and iPadOS 13.4 and macOS 10.15.4, Apple has also released version 2.2.2 of the firmware for the Pro Display XDR which adds support for custom reference modes.

In a new support document, Apple claims that users can create reference modes suitable for various environments and production workflows by choosing different options regarding the color range, white point, luminance and SDR transfer function.

To check the firmware version of the display, click on the Apple logo> About this Mac> System report> Graphics / Display.

After updating the Pro Display XDR you may be asked to reboot. Otherwise, the update will be installed the next time you disconnect and convert the display back to a Mac or power supply.
