Apple presents iOS 8 and covers half of the news from Cydia

Just a few days ago, Apple officially unveiled iOS 8, the new and highly anticipated operating system for iPhone, iPod and iPad. We all expected great news, first of all the introduction of a split-screen multitasking system that would finally allow you to use two split-screen applications, at least on iPad. Unfortunately, this has not been the case and iOS 8, while introducing many new features, has not brought that breath of news that we would all have expected.

iOS 8 will only be officially released in September, when the new iPhone 6 will also arrive, but in the meantime anyone who wants to try iOS 8 Beta on iPhone, iPod and iPad can do it following our precious instructions:

As you have certainly seen in our dedicated articles, iOS 8 introduces many new features and improvements compared to iOS 7. Too bad that, once again, all these functions are not really new compared to what already seen on Android and Cydia: most of the news of iOS 8, in fact, comes from already existing ideas and projects, which Apple has limited itself to integrating in its OS for iPhone, iPod and iPad.

Leaving aside the features discovered by Android (see Swipe keyboard for example), today we will see what they are all the tweaks currently available on Cydia that may no longer be needed in a few months, when Apple officially releases iOS 8.

In the new Apple operating system, in fact, we will find many functions that for now are only available with the jailbreak, but which will soon be integrated into the system and consequently will not require third party software. Here you are, therefore, all lcomplete list of the main tweaks currently present on Cydia but which soon we will no longer have to use thanks to iOS 8.

TWEAK FOR THE TOUCH ID THAT WE WILL FIND IN IOS 8 FOR IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD

BioLockdown-05

With iOS 8, the Touch ID can be used for many other functions and developers can integrate the fingerprint reader into their apps. This opportunity is currently available thanks to tweak likeBioLockdown,BioProtect,iTouchSecureisAsphaleia, which will no longer be needed when iOS 8 is officially released.

TWEAK FOR QUICK RESPONSETHAT WE WILL FIND IN IOS 8 FOR IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD

Auki-Quick-reply

Apple has introducedinteractive notificationsin iOS 8, which will allow you to interact in real time with the notifications. This feature is available for many stock apps, such as Messaging and other apps. Thanks toQuick answer(QuickReply) tweaks likeAuki,BiteSMS, isCouria.

TWEAK FOR THE KEYBOARDTHAT WE WILL FIND IN IOS 8 FOR IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD

HipJot-Side-by-Side

Apple has worked hard to improve the keyboard in iOS 8. The functionQuickTypesuggest words in real time as we write and this will obviously also reduce the number of errors when typing. But Apple has also introduced support for third-party keyboards like Swype,SwiftKeyisFlesky, thus making tweaks useless asHipJot,OctopusisPredectiveKeyboard.

iWidgetsTHAT WE WILL FIND IN IOS 8 FOR IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD

iOS-Theme-Setup-Header

iWidgetsit will not be a completely obsolete tweak, but the Widgets present in itnew Notification Centercould be a reason to abandon it. In favor of iWidgets there is the possibility of using widgets also in the Home and in the Lock Screen, for this reason it could survive iOS 8.

IN CASE OF

InCaseOf-Main1-1024x905

Within the Health app, the function certainly deserves a mentionMedical ID,which will allow you to enter all the necessary information in the event of an emergency and which will also be accessible from the Lock Screen. This is also the function ofInCaseOfand precisely for this reason, perhaps, it will no longer be necessary.

OkSIRITHAT WE WILL FIND IN IOS 8 FOR IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD

OkSiri-Activator-3

OkSiri a tweak that allows you to call the virtual assistant without using the home button. A function like this already present on some devices with Android operating system, such as theMoto X, esar also available on Apple mobile devices thanks to iOS 8.Hey, Siriallow you to use the voice assistant by simply calling it. Exactly for this reason,OkSiriit will be a tweak that will most likely be abandoned.

MESSAGE RENAMERTHAT WE WILL FIND IN IOS 8 FOR IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD

MessageRenamer-iOS-7

The possibility ofrename group messagesit will be one of the features of iOS 8.MessageRenamerit has practically the same function and obviously will no longer serve.

REMOTE MESSAGESTHAT WE WILL FIND IN IOS 8 FOR IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD

Remote-Messages-3

Thanks to iOS 8 and Yosemite, users of a Mac will be able toreceive and send SMS and MMSfrom the desktop, very useful when the iPhone is far away. In favour ofRemote Messagesthere are several features such as the possibility to access the Camera Roll or to use the service from the PC, as shown in the screenshot.

In short, as easy to notice, with iOS 8, many tweaks will no longer be necessary to make the most of iPhone, iPod and iPad. It is obvious that all this it will not completely block the jailbreak, but when the operating system offers important functions for users, surely they no longer need to go and look for certain features from third-party software. With iOS 8, therefore, many users may decide to permanently abandon the jailbreak to use their device in a completely original way.

It must also be said, however, that many software that are currently present on Cydia will probably never arrive on iOS: I am talking about programs likeiFileisActivator, which are certainly very important for users who are likely to push them to jailbreak even on iOS 8.

What do you think about it? Better jailbreak or better not to do it? Are you in favor or against jailbreak? Make yourself heard in the comments!
