New law decree: fines from 400 to 3000 euros

Heavy fines for those who transgress the new anti-Coronavirus Decree Regulated more precisely and with greater transparency the relationship between Government and Parliament.

At the end of the Council of Ministers, which took place today in Palazzo Chigi, the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, held a press conference, in which he presented the new law decree. We adopted from the beginning a law decree which then gave the possibility, with subsequent Prime Ministerial Decrees, to introduce specific measures taking into account the epidemiological trend; the DPCM is a flexible tool that has allowed us to measure the risk containment and mitigation measures according to the spread of the infection. The law decrees the rules adopted so far in a single provision ".

At the sanctioning level, the Decree provides fines from 400 to 3000 euros for those who violate the restrictive measures adopted. In cases of non-compliance with the measures envisaged for public businesses or production or commercial activities, the ancillary administrative sanction for the closure of the financial year or for activities from 5 to 30 days is also applied.

“I am satisfied and proud – specified the Prime Minister – of the reaction that the Italians are having in respecting the prescriptions we have provided. Law enforcement agencies are doing a careful check, but most citizens are complying with these new rules. This must make us all particularly proud".

Giuseppe Conte also denied the hypothesis of the extension with this Emergency law decree until 31 July 2020. Conte recalled that "at the end of January the national state of emergency had been approved for a period of 6 months, but this does not mean that the restrictive measures, which are currently in force, will be extended until 31 July".

"I'm confident – said Giuseppe Conte – that well before that deadline hypothesized at the beginning we can return to our lifestyle habits, indeed to a better lifestyle".
