Apple: macOS and iOS apps with a single purchase, little is missing

Just do it a single purchase to use the versions of the same app available for macOS and for the other platforms of the Cupertino house, starting from iOS. From the end user point of view, this is the most significant effect of the change introduced in the past few hours in the App Store and addressed directly to the developers: the macOS version of your app can now be included in a universal purchaseApple says, so you only have to pay it once – same applies to in-app purchases – to use it on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS.

In concrete terms end users will have to wait a little longer before you can take advantage of the universal purchase even with macOS apps: Apple has enabled the functionality in the App Store, but so that developers can take advantage of it specifically it will be necessary to wait for the release of Xcode 11.4 in GM version. In fact, please note that in the official guidelines for developers we read: apps created using beta versions of Xcode or designed for beta versions of an operating system will not be accepted on the App Store […] Use an available GM seed of Xcode to develop an app you want to send.

Xcode, Apple's development environment, has now arrived to beta 3, the Golden Master should follow shortly – it cannot be excluded that it can be released already in the evening together with iOS and iPadOS 13.4. From then on, developers will be able to start asking for the macOS app included in the universal purchase to be published in the App Store.
