TaoTronics TT-BH08, sports headphones that fit perfectly

marzo 23, 2020

If you are thinking of buying a pair of headphones to be used alongside gym workouts but you do not want to spend a fortune, take a look at the TaoTronics TT-BH08 that we have been able to try in the last few weeks.

Compared to others of this kind, they seemed much more comfortable and light because of the soft rubber that covers the cable, in addition to the headband system that improves the stability of the earphones in the ears. One of the strengths in the snare that allows them to adhere perfectly to the nape of the neck, so they don't slip away and don't even jump during an intense run.

How they are made

The cable of the TaoTronics TT-BH08, as mentioned, covered in rubber, very soft, light and really pleasant to the touch. It is 5 millimeters high and 3 millimeters thick, just enough to make it comfortable enough when worn and above all resistant to tangles: you can easily insert them in the bag included in the package, or more simply in your pocket, and have them immediately ready for use when you take them out. Based on our evidence we can assure that the chances of a knot forming are almost nil.

The cable is almost totally soft and flexible except in the proximity of the earphones, where they wrap a rigid headband, probably made of plastic, which improves the stability of the headphones in the ears without hassle. The high stability of the system is also guaranteed by these hooks which, being not as soft as the cable, remain in position and do not weigh down the headphones even when worn for several consecutive hours.

Aesthetically they are rather flashy: the cable chromatically divided in half, with the external side in black and the internal one in fluo yellow, also used for the earphones (but not for the rubber pads, which remain black) and for the buttons.

The secret of excellent stability in the accessory

If the length of the cable, about 30 centimeters, is too long, a practical accessory comes into play, a sort of elastic, made of the same rubber, designed to shorten it and avoid making the headphones heavy during use. In short, it clings to the two sides of the cable and runs it up to the nape of the neck, thus improving the stability of the headphones, which remain immobile even with jumps and somersaults.

In the past we have had to deal with similar solutions that allowed to shorten the cable, but this one from TaoTronics seemed very comfortable but above all easy and practical to adjust, even in the event that the same headphones are used by several people in the family.

The earphones

The actual earphones are instead made of plastic, rather light but sufficiently robust. Externally, on the right we find, at the bottom, the microUSB input for charging the internal battery, well covered by a dust and sweat cap, while externally there is a small Multifunction button and a rocker for adjusting the volume and skipping tracks. In this area there is also a small notification LED and a hole for the microphone.

The in-ear grommets are interchangeable: in the package, in addition to the medium-sized ones already mounted, you will also find a pair of size S and an L, thus being able to adapt them to the conformation of your ear cavity.

How are they doing

We immediately liked the TaoTronics TT-BH08 for its high stability right from the first contact, but they also seemed excellent from the point of view of audio quality. Even with a medium-high volume, around 75% on the slider of the adjustment on the iPhone, you can already perceive all the sounds well, including the breath of the AC / DC singer in the introduction of Rock n Roll aint noise pollution.

The bass can be perceived well already at these levels, but they give the best bringing the volume around 90% -100%. Here you can also hear the growing bass line well, and you can also fully enjoy the individual inputs of the various instruments in the first tens of seconds of Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water.

The use of these headphones can go beyond simple sports training. Even with Un piccolo Chopin by Marco Masini, for example, we liked the sound performance of medium-high frequencies, including speech.

Conclusions

Although the headphones weigh slightly more than others (25 grams against the usual 15-17 grams of many other sports headphones tried in the past), the difference is not perceived at all and the hook that blocks the excess cable from this point of view certainly helps very. They sound good, they are exceptionally comfortable and stable, ideal if you train in the gym because of the remarkable in-ear soundproofing, less suitable instead for outdoor sports for a run for example along the sidewalk, where it is very important to keep a watchful ear on what happens on the street.

They sound really good, and the autonomy of about 5 hours at maximum volume, almost 6 hours with a volume of around 75%, ideal to accompany the user for long and intense workouts during the day. They recharge in just over 2 hours and also work well for answering phone calls.
