MacBook Air 2019 vs MacBook Air 2020, specifications compared

Apple has updated the MacBook Air by integrating a larger series SSD unit, a new generation CPU up to twice as fast and the Magic Keyboard with the scissor mechanism that we had already been able to appreciate on the MacBook Pro 16 "(here our review).

To change between old and new model are many small and large details that we illustrate below. The visible novelty (with the computer open), as already mentioned, Magic Keyboard. Apple explains that the keys have "a perfected scissor mechanism", with an excursion of 1 mm, an element that should allow you to live more comfortably and precisely. The keys, according to Apple, are also very quiet. The upside down T-shaped arrangement of the arrow keys allows you to move quickly in the lines of code, in the spreadsheets and obviously also with games. As before, the new backlit keyboard uses an ambient light sensor and allows you to write even in the dark.

The SSD offered with the basic configuration now starts from 256GB; when ordering, the 512GB SSD (+250 euros), 1TB (+500.00 euros) and 2TB (+1000.00 euros) SSDs are possible.

The dimensions of the screen are identical, as are the resolution, backlight and type of KED screen (from 13.3 ″ diagonal with IPS technology, native resolution 25601600 at 227 pixels per inch, support for millions of colors) and TrueTone technology.

As regards support for external screens, the new one simultaneously supports the native resolution, in millions of colors, on the integrated screen and: an external 6K monitor with 60163384 resolution at 60Hz, an external 5K monitor with resolution 51202880 at 60Hz and up to two 4K external monitors with 40962304 resolution at 60Hz. Practically the new Air 2020 supports 6K resolution thanks to the processor and integrated graphics Intel Iris Plus Graphics.
