WhatsApp, last day on Windows Phone: what to do?

As scheduled, support for the Microsoft operating system is suspended today 31 December 2019. Here's how to behave

the last day you can use it has arrived WhatsApp on Windows Phone (and Windows Mobile) smartphones. From tomorrow 1 January 2020 the instant messaging application will no longer work, as happened some time ago with the old Blackberries without Android.

How to behave in case you still had a fully functional Windows Phone model in your pocket and did not need to change it?

The answer soon said: it is not possible to change the operating system or force WhatsApp to work since with the death of the media, the device will no longer be able to connect to the servers. In essence, it will be as if compatibility is lost. Unfortunately, there is no way back.

The first step is to save photos, videos and downloaded documents, connecting the device to the computer and accessing it as if it were an external USB memory. The second saves the conversations (and the same multimedia contents) on Onedrive from the path Settings> Chat> Chat backup.

We will therefore have to switch to alternative software and the best choice can only fall on Telegram as it continues to support the abandoned Os of Redmond, it has a good percentage of registered population and not bad services (security, desktop application independent from mobile phone and other functions).

However, you will have to put your heart in peace because Microsoft has already raised the white flag with Windows Phone and Mobile suggesting to switch to Android or iOs systems. it is highly inadvisable to continue using a mobile phone connected to the network that is not adequately protected by software from regular updates. There are plenty of economic models for those who don't want to spend too much, unfortunately a forced way.

It is also worth mentioning that even the old models with iOs 8 (that of iPhone 6) and Android version 2.3.7 Gingerbread of 2010 will soon be cut and even for them WhatsApp will become unusable. The date is February 1, 2020. The same recommendation also applies to these models: if you can no longer update them to newer versions of the operating system (and attached security patches), it is not at all a waste of money to think quickly of a solution – even low cost – modern and protected.

Speaking of smartphones, here are the best of 2019 according to the editorial staff of (and the king, chosen by the readers) and of the decade 2010-2019.
